Lighting our streets
We maintain over 200,000 streetlights across our region. We’re working with councils and partners to deliver lighting that’s reliable, energy-efficient and designed to meet local community needs.

Why lighting matters
Street lighting plays a key role in community safety. It helps prevent accidents, supports night-time travel and makes public spaces feel safer and more welcoming. We maintains over 200,000 streetlights across our region and we’re responsible for making sure those lights stay on across streets, main roads, paths and parks, to help people stay safe and access these areas at night.
Lighting repairs and responsibilities
We share responsibility for public lighting with local councils and developers.
- Endeavour Energy: Maintains, inspects, cleans, repairs and upgrades
- Local councils: Approve funding, plans where lighting is needed
- Developers: Manage the design and delivery of lighting in new subdivisions
Contact your local council to request enhanced street lighting in your neighbourhood.
If streetlights are out of action for a period outside the public lighting code, you may be eligible for a one-off payment.
In accordance with the NSW Public Lighting Code, if Endeavour Energy fails to repair faulty street lighting within an agreed timeframe, we offer a one-off payment of $25 as compensation for the loss of illumination. This amount is only payable to the account holder at the premises which is directly next to the part of the street that would ordinarily be illuminated if not for a faulty streetlight.
If you are eligible for a one-off payment, we will send a letter to your home address.
The fault must be repaired within 10 business days, after which a payment of $25 can be claimed.
