We build where growth is landing, around the airport, Aerotropolis and adjoining housing and employment precincts adding new substations, feeders and high-capacity connections. Clustering capacity shortens time to energise, reduces rework and unlocks homes, jobs and industry.
Powering Western Sydney's next chapter
We’re working across this fast-growing area, to help create and connect liveable, productive and sustainable communities that thrive.

At the heart of our energy network
Our vision for Greater Western Sydney is to help create and connect liveable, productive and sustainable communities that thrive.
We’ll do this by:
- Delivering world class infrastructure across Greater Western Sydney
- Leveraging our engineering excellence and track record of innovation and efficiency
- Streamlining utility services with our utility partners while improving the customer experience
Our focus is on three main areas:
Western Sydney’s rooftop solar is surging. To make the most of it, we’re upgrading the grid for two-way flows and accelerating battery energy storage, community batteries and large-scale grid batteries to soak up midday generation and shift it to the evening peak, plus EV-charging enablement and flexible export settings. Our goal is for higher solar hosting, fewer constraints and more reliable, renewable power when people need it most.
We’re readying the grid to deliver reliable power for a region on the rise - using real-time monitoring to balance rapidly growing rooftop solar, smart switches to restore power faster, and weather-hardened assets for bushfire, flood and heat. We’re also expanding capacity by building and upgrading new substations and feeders as well as installing community batteries, so new homes and businesses can connect with confidence.
What underpins everything
• World-class engineering and a track record of innovation and efficiency
• Streamlined delivery with utility partners to improve the customer experience
• Early, collaborative planning with developers and councils to de-risk connections
Powering growth
Reliable and renewable electricity is critical for the sustainable growth of Western Sydney.
This growth is happening rapidly. So, we’re also moving quickly to build a modern and renewable grid, deploy community batteries and microgrids, EV charging stations and critical energy infrastructure to power the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, the Aerotropolis and surrounding precincts.
To help fast-track the design and delivery of these energy solutions, we have introduced an end-to-end account management service to build closer partnerships with our community of developers. It’s part of a pipeline of initiatives aiming to build collaborative and successful partnerships to power Western Sydney and position the region as a global gateway to Australia.
